Welcome to the Sea Level Rise Monitoring Project

Monitoring Sea Level Rise with Time Lapse Photographs

Welcome

This project resulted in a standard method for photo-monitoring of sea level rise impacts to coastal systems. There have been several detailed predictive models of sea level rise impacts to coastal systems and infrastructure. But there is currently no system for tracking sea level rise and corresponding inundation-related impacts in short timeframes (years to decades). This method uses long-term photo-monitoring from stations in California and Georgia. Image analysis techniques were used to automatically measure changes in extent of inundation and intactness of features in coastal systems.
